Design Process

Their are two basic approaches to having a home designed. You can choose a “stock plan” or we can design a custom home for you.

“Stock plans” are completed designs, which may have similar floor plan layouts and characteristics that your looking for. These designs can be modified to reflect your personal preferences and, or to change the exterior style to that of your liking.

“Custom plans” are plans designed for you based on your preferences and information received from you, such as: number of bedrooms, room sizes, number of stories, square footages, exterior style, etc. Once we have talked about your goals and have a good feel for what your looking for, we will produce what is call a preliminary drawing. This is  an easy to read floor plan layout with interior room sizes, furniture placement, square footages, and 3D views of the exterior. After we get the preliminary drawings exactly how you want it, we encourage you to bring them to your contractor to make sure you are on track with current

building costs. Because preliminary plans are not completely detailed at this stage, we can increase or decrease the square footage of your home to make sure it fits into you budget. After the final preliminary is approved we will then detail your plans and get them ready for permitting. Below is a description of what is included with your final plans.
